Page Load Improvements

Update
       Josh Bloomfield

We love mastering technology - because we love nonprofits and because we love building amazing tools. In that spirit, our team identified and deployed a performance improvement that will allow your GiveCloud pages to serve more donors per second than ever before.

Huge thanks to Tim for his incredible brain and proactive attitude!

Overall, you'll likely not notice a difference in the performance of your site. However, in peak fundraising times, your GiveCloud pages will be able to handle about 1000% more traffic per second than previously.

Duplicate Recurring Charge Detection

BETA
New
       Josh Bloomfield

This item is available on a limited basis. You can request access at support@givecloud.co.

The long awaited update is here. Many of you have donors that have multiple recurring donations set up on the same day. Now, GiveCloud has intelligence that detects when the same card will be charged more than once. In those cases, GiveCloud groups those charges together into a single charge while still tracking the individual reasons for the payment. This keeps your donor's bank statement simpler, saves you on fees, and speeds up the transaction processing.

This is being tested with a handful of clients. We'll let you know once it is live :)

Decline Detection & Captcha Support

New
       Tim Robertson

We now track the number of times a card is declined. After 3 declines, we require donors to complete a CAPTCHA test before they can try their card again. This makes it more difficult for fraudsters and robots to exploit your GiveCloud payment forms to test black market credit cards.

Improved DP Code Matching

Patch
       Dan Ramdial

GiveCloud now more intelligently matches codes in DP by comparing codes and code descriptions. For example, let's say you had a solicitation code set up called 'FB' with the description 'Facebook'. GiveCloud will now compare both the code and the value to make sure it finds the best match. This would allow you to push the word 'facebook' (case insensitive) into the solicitation field, without forcing the value 'FB'.

Between July 11th and August 7th, some customers may have experienced issues with their GL, Campaign, Solicitation or Sub Solicitation Codes not pushing to DP correctly. This would have only impacted those who had over 500 code options (active or inactive) for a given field type. This has been patched.

DonorPerfect Sync Issue

Service
       Josh Bloomfield

There was an uncommunicated change made to the DonorPerfect API's. DonorPerfect dropped support for legacy tribute fields in their API without notice. This caused an incompatibility in communication between GiveCloud and DonorPerfect.

The DonorPerfect change happened on July 19th around 4PM EST. We have updated our code to be compatible with the change as of Jul 23rd at 11AM EST. All orders between those dates would have been affected. We ran a script to automatically patch all affected orders in all systems.

If you have any questions please contact us at support@givecloud.co.

Broken Images

Service
       Josh Bloomfield

Some sites may have experienced broken images on their site starting Saturday at 8am EST and ending Sunday at ~2:30pm EST.

Once every 3 years, GiveCloud is required to renew a certain type of security certificate to keep our customers safe. We installed the certificate over the weekend but neglected to update a reference to the old certificate for our CDN (content delivery network) which caused broken images across all sites using our latest image processing. This did not in anyway leave any sites vulnerable to a security breach. It just simply affected the ability to link to images.

Only a handful of customers are running on our newest image processing platform would have been affected. This is why the problem went unnoticed across the vast majority of our clients and sites.

The issue has been resolved as of Sunday at 2:30PM EST.

Internal procedures have been revised to prevent this from happening again.

We are deeply and most sincerely sorry for the hiccup!
